I Almost Never Wear Bras, But I Made an Exception for This Recycled Nylon Option

I Almost Never Wear Bras, But I Made an Exception for This Recycled Nylon Option

04/22/2021

Since middle school, my bra size has fluctuated between a large A cup and small B. When I realized no one would notice if I stopped wearing the thick, padded boob tubes I longed for as a preteen, I stuffed them in the back of my dresser and never touched them again. Eventually, I eschewed bras altogether (aside from sports bras during workouts), and I have no regrets.

Yet against all odds, I’ve been lured back into the world of bra shopping by my favorite underwear brand, Parade. Its first collection of bralettes launched yesterday featuring triangle and scoop styles, and sizes are already selling out. I’ve had the chance to test the triangle bralette for the past month, and it’s taught me that there’s much more to a great bra than appeasing people who are afraid of nipples.

The bralette is made of Parade’s signature Re:Play fabric, ultra-cozy recycled nylon that put the brand’s underwear on the map. Plus, its adjustable, flat-laid straps don’t dig or roll when I move, and its breathable mesh side panels keep me from feeling restricted. In short, even though no one needs a bra, wearing this one gives me the same pleasure as a great pair of undies.

Its trademarked AirBand, a forgiving elastic band that’s both lightweight and supportive, makes the bralette feel even more like a second skin. I’ve worn mine while exercising and the band always stays put, while the lightly lined cups minimize jiggling.

Parade’s triangle and scoop bralettes are available in sizes up to 3XL, along with three extended cup sizes that accommodate up to an F. Sizes large and up are made with a thicker band and straps to support larger busts, but every bralette comes in the same fun-loving colors. No matter the size, silhouette, or hue, each one will cost you just $28.
