I tried the biggest burgers at Wendy's, McDonald's, In-N-Out, and Shake Shack – only one tasted straight off the grill

IN a quest to find the best and biggest fast food burger, one woman visited five different chains.

Erin McDowell tried burgers from Wendy's, McDonald's, Burger King, In-N-Out, and Shake Shack, but only one was her favorite.

There was one burger McDowell said she'd never try again, according to Insider: The 4×4 burger at In-N-Out.

The burger is not on the chain's standard menu, but rather on its not-so-secret menu, and is also known as a Quad Quad.

It comes with four beef patties, four cheese slices, plus lettuce, tomato, sauce, and the option to add other toppings like onions.

McDowell said that while this burger was delicious and fresh, she'd not order it again, citing the over-the-top amount of beef and overly filling nature.

The double cheeseburger from Shake Shack was similar in size.

This burger is customizable when it comes to toppings and has two thick patties.

McDowell said that while the price of this "heavy" burger was higher than others, it was worth it.

One of the burgers she liked the least was the McDonald's Big Mac.

She said the middle bun was a hindrance to the burger as a whole, and that the patties and toppings were underwhelming.

McDowell believes that adding tomato and ketchup could make it better.

She also tried the chain's Double Double, which she liked better than the Big Mac.

The size of this burger was more manageable, and while there was a hefty serving of meat, McDowell didn't find it overwhelming.

However, she disliked the burger's sesame seed bun, calling it "airy and artificial-tasting."

McDowell thoroughly enjoyed Wendy's Dave's Triple burger, which, like the In-N-Out 4X4, is not on the main menu.

She called this a "well-balanced" burger, which features nearly a pound of meat.

It also comes with American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, ketchup, mayo, and onion.

While this was another burger that was difficult to pick up, McDowell said the flavors generally worked well together, with the only exception being the mayo.

But her favorite burger came from Burger King.

The chain's Triple Whopper was the most expensive burger, but also the only one, she said, with flame-grilled patties.

McDowell said the patties were flatter than some of the others and had a smoky flavor.

The Triple Whopper has less cheese than the other burgers at only one slice, and comes with lettuce, tomatoes, and onions.

This burger was easier to eat and flavorful without being overwhelmingly large.
