I'm a size 18 & tried on a trouser haul from ASOS – the difference between the sizes was unbelievable | The Sun

THERE'S nothing more disheartening than trying on your usual size in a clothes shop, only to find it's far too tight and you need to size up.

But thankfully, many shoppers have learned to ignore the labels – and one fashion fan has proved why it's the best way.

Alice, who posts under the acronym @aspoonfulofalice, took to TikTok and shared a video where she can be seen showing off a pile of trousers she's recently ordered from ASOS.

In the clip, she begins: "I have just tried on a load of size 18 trousers from ASOS – not only did one of these many, many, many pairs look even vaguely good – but let me show you the difference between some of the sizes because it's just unbelievable."

First up, she tries on a pair of smart, lilac split hem trousers.

"These are apparently a size 18 – they are the ASOS own brand and they didn't even come close to doing up," she explains.

Next, she slips into a pair of relaxed purple striped trousers which feature an elasticated waist.

"These are not only the ASOS brand but they're also the same collection – the ASOS design collection," she notes.

Pulling the waist band to the side, Alice adds: "I do really really love these but you could genuinely fit three of me in here if you really tried.

"I've ordered these in a size down so hopefully they'll be good."

Finally, Alice tries on a pair of purple trousers from Topshop – and this time, they're very long.

Pulling the waist up to below her chest to show just how long they really are, Alice notes: "These are a Topshop size 18!"

Alice captioned the post: "Remind me to just be naked in future."

The post has since racked up thousands of views from frustrated shoppers who have all experienced similar clothing issues.

"Personally think the final look in the Topshop ones worked very well- my god ASOS get it together," joked one.

A second quipped: "The last ones had me!"

A third penned: "Oh the last one shows my biggest hate: clothes in bigger sizes just getting longer and not really wider.

"I‘m only 1,60m and it’s so hard some times."

Meanwhile, a fourth noted: "Mad. I'm a 16 at Matalan and a 20+ at H&M, I should be an 18."

Another commented: "I bought 3 pairs of jeans today. Granted they are different styles and brands. One size 10, one 12, one 14…"
