GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes opened up about his health battle back in March 2020 and has been sharing updates ever since. The 62-year-old regularly discusses his pain on Twitter where he interacts with fellow sufferers.

In the early hours of this morning the host shared a new post, writing: “Well now we’re ďefinitely all talking about #ChronicPain.

“Sad and disturbing to see how many of us have to live with it. With me night time is always worse… or do I just imagine that?”

Many of Eamonn’s one million followers flocked to his post to send their well wishes and reassure him that he wasn’t alone.

Denise replied: “I am sat here now at 1.30 am in awful pain as always. The nights are the worst and so long.”

He responded: “Or very short Denise… My alarm goes off at 2.30am.”

Sharon told the host she had “lost” her mind after waiting for an appointment for 10 months.

Judith Chestnutt added: “Night time is hard with chronic pain – nothing to do to try and distract you from the pain or take your mind off it, without disturbing the other people in your house.

“Desperately trying to get comfy and trying to switch your mind off. It’s no fun.”

Eamonn began using a crutch back in April 2021 after suffering with back pain.

He went on to tell fans that he had to learn to walk again after three slipped discs in his back caused nerve damage in his right leg.

Treatment for the host included physio sessions and steroid injections.

In May the same year, he said he felt as though he was over the worst of his pain and was making progress.

He tweeted: “Got to strengthen my back now. Small steps, literally.

“But feeling positive. Thanks for sharing your stories.”

This year however his chronic pain was at its peak again, causing the presenter to take some time out of work.

In June, he took a break from GB News, which he presents alongside Isabel Webster.

In a statement, he said: “Unfortunately, due to a reoccurrence of a long-term back condition, I’ve had to undergo some unexpected hospital treatment and am now following Doctor’s orders by taking a short time off.”

“However, I’m looking forward to being back alongside Isabel, my Breakfast co-presenter and friend, next week.

“Even though I only joined GB News six months ago, the whole team and our amazing audience has shown me immense support which has been greatly appreciated.

“I now just need some time with my family to heal and recuperate. See you soon, Eamonn.”
