EXCLUSIVE: Vicky Pattison opens up on painful struggles after quitting contraception10/24/2021
Vicky Pattison has opened up on why she decided to take a break from contraception after worrying over the "synthetic hormones" she was pumping through her body.
The 33 year old, who recently unveiled her Halloween transformation at her stunning home, spoke out about the effects of being on and off contraception during an exclusive chat with OK! Online about her new Pour Moi edit.
Geordie Shore star Vicky explained that she had her implant removed eight months ago after being on that form of contraception for 15 years non-stop.
Discussing how she got it in the first place, she told OK!: "When you're younger, which I was when I first opted to have that form of contraception, you aren't given an awful lot of information. It's just, 'Oh I don't want to get pregnant, well have this.'
"I didn't understand what I was doing to my body, what I was pumping through my body. The sheer amount of synthetic hormones that were going to be in my system all the time. The ramifications of that on my mental health.
"I think, especially when you're 18 you're just growing up and learning about yourself."
Vicky, who recently put on a racy display for her lingerie campaign, went on: "I have had that particular form of contraception in my body for like 15 years."
Fast-forward over a decade and Vicky was left wondering how the implant was impacting her body and emotions as she questioned: "So it kind of left me thinking as an adult, 'How much of me is actually me? and how much of me as an adult, like my decision making process, is me? How much is me and how much is the synthetic hormones?'
"I really knew it was time to get it out. I was struggling with my period, I was struggling with my emotions. I knew it was time to take a break but I quite naively assumed I would be straight back to normal."
However, Vicky didn't bounce back to her normal self immediately and she's still dealing with the after effects today.

She continued: "Your body takes time to right itself, to stabilise and find an equilibrium. I'm currently on that journey I suppose.
"I'm just trying to take every day as it comes and ride the wave but it is quite difficult sometimes. It's very up and down. Periods are quite painful. Not the nicest side effects but I definitely know I've done the right thing."
Vicky's open nature of talking about all things from her contraceptive journey to body positivity has led her to launch an edit with Pour Moi.
Speaking on the idea behind the collection, she told OK!: "My Pour Moi edit is a gorgeous mix of sexy bras and knicks, cute little gym sets, glamorous dresses for nights out and cosy pjs for nights in. It's got something for everybody. It's something for every single thing you want to do for autumn and winter months.
"I'm super proud of it. We've got all kinds of things for curvy women, slimmer women, big-boobed ladies, for ladies with little butts. It's super inclusive. It's designed to make women with gorgeous, super beautiful and empowered."
