Felicity Kendal talks about love, life and wobbly knees

The Good Life star Felicity Kendal, 74, has made a rare TV appearance as she chatted to Graham Norton, 57, about her debut in musical Anything Goes. The actress also stunned with her youthful appearance as she put on a glamorous display on The Graham Norton Show, which is set to air this evening.

Felicity wore a chic all-black outfit for her stint on the chat show, which she paired with quirky red detailing.

The star showed off her age-defying features with pink lipstick and smokey eyeshadow.

Felicity admitted that although she can’t sing, she is hoping her performances in the musical will go off without a hitch.

She jokingly described the play as a “comic Titanic that doesn’t sink”.

The star added to BBC host Graham: “I can’t sing but there is always hope.

“It’ll be fine or I will get fired.”

Felicity also reflected on her time as part of the hit 1970s sitcom The Good Life’s cast.

She played Barbara Good in the series and discussed the struggle that she and co-star Penelope Keith experienced when they wanted to portray their characters drunk.

She said: “I love acting p****d and we thought it would be very funny if we became as drunk as Jerry and Tom, but the head of the BBC said Barbara and Margot can’t get drunk because they are so loved by the audience.

“We fought really hard to do it and eventually we did that scene.

“It’s interesting to see how far we’ve come – now everyone is p****d.”

Felicity previously shared that she has had Botox.

Addressing her beauty regime, the star told the Sunday Times magazine: “I do it every six months, then you don’t get the terrible little frown line.”

However, the star has since divulged that she decided to leave Botox behind.

The grandmother-of-two instead enjoys yoga, pilates and weightlifting to maintain her looks and figure.

She told Good Housekeeping magazine: “There comes a point where you have to match bits of you with the other bits.”

Felicity added that she doesn’t want to shy away from showing off her figure because of her age.

She added: “Then there was a time when you’d think, I’m over 60, I can’t possibly wear a short skirt again because of my crinkly knees.

“Then you come out the other end and say, f*** it, I’ve got good legs, I’m going to put on tights and a short skirt.”

The Graham Norton Show will air on BBC One this Friday at 10.45pm and it is also available on BBC iPlayer.
