Shaughna Phillips has opened up on her dating disasters after it is revealed that it takes 16 dates to find "the one".

The 26 year old was unlucky in love on both Love Island and Celebs Go Virtual dating, and has now turned to dating apps in the hope of finding romance during lockdown.

She has teamed up with her app of choice, happn, and has spoken exclusively to OK! online about her worst date.

Shaughna told us: "The worst date I've been on was, well actually it was a post-date situation.

"I'd gone on a first date with a guy who I ended up being in a two year relationship with, and we went for something to eat, he was dropping me off and on the way home, my ex who I'd recently broken up with was sitting outside my house in his car crying.

"He saw me getting out of this car from this date and was like, 'What are you doing Shaughna?', crying, it was so embarrassing, my mum had to threaten him with an umbrella."

Despite the relationship lasting two years, Shaughna jokes: "It ended even worse," and added that her biggest dating regret is "going on that first date."

She continued: "There's definitely been dates that I've gone on and just thought, 'why am I here?' and I feel like I could never say to someone, 'I don't think this is working', but I feel like my attitude and my body language can't hide it.

"I've probably been on a few dates where I'm not the nicest person to them just because I don't want to be there and that is one thing that I definitely do regret.

"I would much rather someone be honest with me and upfront if they weren't feeling it or if they thought this was one date they weren't going to pursue, I'm a big girl, I can take that on the chin but I just don't think I could ever do that to someone but…

"I would like to say that I wouldn't want to hurt their feelings but I think the real reason is I'm just a bit of a wuss."

Discussing dating during the current pandemic, Shaughna added: "It's just been a bit of a mind warp hasn't it?

"If you think about it there's so much going on but so little going on, there's nothing happening, you can't do anything.

"You're talking to these people, I joined happn during lockdown, not necessarily to go on dates but just to get myself out there virtually.

"You have these conversations and they always end up just going back to lockdown, that's all we have in common at the moment."
