I’m A Celebrity 2020 is well and truly underway as the campers settle into their new life in Gwrych Castle in the middle of the Welsh countryside. And with the uncertainty that this year has brought with it, there’s one celeb who wishes he hadn’t turned down the offer when approached by ITV bosses.
Wish I had said yes now
The Chase star Mark Labbett, seemed to be regretting his decision of dismissing the opportunity to immerse himself in the horrors the annual adventure series has to offer, especially since Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced the UK’s latest lockdown rules and regulations.
As we head out of the second nation-wide lockdown of the year, regions will be re-entering the tiered system with most of the country placed in Tier 2.
With many social media users slamming the government’s decision to tighten restrictions as shops are allowed to open and support bubbles are given the all clear to meet ahead of Christmas, Mark seemed to think Gwrych Castle Castle would have been a better option.
Replying to a fan, he admitted he wished he had agreed to sign up for the 2020 series, despite not jetting off to sunny Australia.
Due to coronavirus, the ITV show had to be moved somewhere local in order to go ahead, as travel restrictions put Oz well and truly out of the picture this year.
The user in question tweeted: “‘I’m a Celebrity’ really loses it’s USP when the contestants have more liberty than 99% of the country.”
Mark responded: “Wish I had said yes now,” alongside an unhappy face.
Fans rushed to the comments section to suggest next year could be the year The Beast takes on the jungle… or Wales once again.
“I should wait until next year to agree… At least you’ll get a sun tan and not frost bite,” one joked.
A second said: “You should have!!”
“Next year, Mark?” a third wondered.
But The Chase star didn’t complain for long as he revealed the latest viewing figures for the ITV game show.

Sharing the impressive ratings, Mark wanted to thank fans for their continued support.
“The Chase averaged 4.98 million viewers yesterday, Pointless 2.85 million,” he said, comparing the two similar quiz shows.
“These are phenomenal figures for daytime shows. Thank you all.”
Again, fans applauded the telly star and his colleagues for bringing great daytime entertainment to their screens.
“Because it’s simply brilliant Mark … good effort and a great show sir,” one cheered.
Another added: “Good to see the viewing figures going up and up great show great Chasers never miss it.”
“Great figures and well deserved. All we ask is please don’t ever change the show time to a late evening slot,” a third pleaded.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV.
