Peter Kay became the topic of conversation on social media as viewers took to Twitter and questioned the mystery identity of Zip on The Masked Dancer. ITV viewers wracked their brains to guess the famous faces behind the masks.
During Thursday night’s episode, each celebrity revealed a word that would help the show judges identify them but did not elaborate further.
Following Zip’s performance, fans took to social media as they speculated that Peter may be behind the costume.
It comes after the masked contestant said their special word was “Geraldine”.
Fans may recall Peter’s character fictional character Geraldine McQueen from his Britain’s Got the Pop Factor.
One quizzed: “Zip said Geraldine. It has to be Peter Kay right?”
Another remarked: “Zip must be Peter Kay. Too many clues lead to that conclusion. And the northern accent and the car show.”
“I forgot Peter Kay’s Geraldine. Good shout,” another mused.
While a fourth added: “I thought Geraldine could be Peter Kay’s Geraldine McQueen.”
However, others were less convinced as they believed the Geraldine clue was actually a hint that Take That’s Howard Donald is behind the mask.
One fan posted: “Zip said Geraldine. Take That presented their own TV show and had Peter Kay when he was one of his alter egos Geraldine on it.”
A second penned: “Take That Come To Town had Peter Kay as Geraldine! They played the game with him/her and ended up rolling on the floor.”
Another agreed: “It’s Howard Donald, Peter Kay was Geraldine in their Take That Come to Town tour.”

Viewers have speculated all week over Zip’s identity, with Rylan Clark-Neal also being claimed as a possibility.
Meanwhile, Masked Dancer judges Oti Mabuse, Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan and Jonathan Ross all failed to identify Beagle and Llama.
Beagle was revealed as Dancing on Ice star Christopher Dean and Llama was presenter Zoe Ball.
Taking to Instagram after the reveal, Zoe shared a video of her daughter Nelly’s reaction as her name was thrown into the mix of guesses.
Nelly began copying Zoe’s dances moves from the show and swiftly realised it was her.
“It must be me because you can do the dance,” the Radio 2 Breakfast Show host said.
Nelly said she was adamant it was her mum following the guesses and clues.
It means that Zip, Squirrel, Carwash, Knickerbocker Glory, Scarecrow and Frog will battle it out in the next round.
The Masked Dancer Final airs tonight on ITV at 7.30pm.
