Phil Vickery takes liking to dating show after Fern Britton split ‘All smoke and mirrors’


This Morning’s regular chef Phil Vickery, 58, has taken to Twitter share what he likes about the current series of Celebs Go Dating. The E4 dating show involves celebrities going on dates with regular people in the hope of finding the one.

The show features love gurus Anna Williamson and Paul Carrick Brunson, receptionist Tom Read Wilson and voiceover Rob Beckett.

Last week, newly single Phil tweeted about the “very funny” show in view of his 47,000 followers.

He wrote: “Have to say the narration @robbeckettcomic and the sweet charm of @TomReadWilson Celebs Go Dating great telly… very funny.”

Could this be the chef’s next move to find love again?

Many of the chef’s fans flocked to his Twitter post to share their thoughts, with one noticing he had been tweeting more since being single.

The Twitter user wrote: “I love that you are on Twitter more now Phil. Never really saw you tweeting before. Great cook and good all round guy xx.”

He replied: “It’s all smoke and mirrors,” followed by a winking face.

Back in January, Phil and Fern announced their split on their respective Twitter accounts.

He wrote: “After more than 20 years together Fern and I have decided to go our separate ways.

“We will always share a great friendship and our lovely children. We would appreciate it if our privacy is respected at this time.

“Thank you for you kindness and support P.”

His spouse shared a similar statement on her Twitter page with 68,000 followers.

The television duo tied the knot back in 2000 and welcomed their daughter Winnie, now 17, two years later.

They first met on the set of BBC Two’s Ready Steady Cook.

Fern also shares twin sons Jack and Harry, 25, and a daughter Grace, 22, with her ex-husband Clive Jones.

Phil was also married to Sarah Ann Lock from 1990 to 1999 before meeting Fern.

Following the news of their split, Fern Britton spoke out about her feelings in her first interview.

The host said she is feeling “really confident, strong and quite indestructible” and said the pair still have a “good friendship”.

But admitting it’s not always been easy, she added to Woman and Home: “There are times, of course, when I’ve been very low and finding life difficult.”
