Kate Middleton and Prince William are celebrating Mother’s Day in the U.K. with their family, including their three kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. The Kensington Royal Instagram account posted a couple of updates about the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and what they are doing to commemorate the special day, celebrating not only the mothers within their own family, but also offering warm wishes for all mothers.

“This year Mother’s Day will be different once again. Many of us will be apart from our loved ones, but looking forward to a time in the not too distant future when we can give our mother a hug again,” read an Instagram caption, along with a few photos of cards that were created by George, Charlotte, and Louis. The cards held a very special meaning and appear to be a tradition for the Cambridges, who always remember one special family member who passed away years ago. Kate Middleton and Prince William honor Princess Diana each Mother's Day

Each year, Prince William and Kate Middleton have their kids write cards to their late grandmother, Princess Diana, who passed away in 1997. In the Instagram caption, Kensington Royal revealed that the kids refer to Diana as “Granny.” The note to Diana from Prince George reads, “I love you very much and think of you always.” Another, from Princess Charlotte acknowledges that “papa is missing you,” referring to William, Diana’s eldest son. The card made my Prince Louis features a painted heart and what appears to be stickers of different animals, and was simply signed with his name.

In a subsequent Instagram post by Kensington Royal, William and Kate shared a photo of a cake that was “made by” the three youngsters — one decorated with pipe cleaners shaped into hearts. With a swipe to the right, you will also see a photo that appears to be of a young Kate with her mom, Carole Middleton. “Celebrating two other special mothers today,” the caption reads. Happy Mother’s Day to those celebrating in the U.K.!
