The Wanted star Max George has taken to social media to speak out following his former bandmate Tom Parker’s heartbreaking brain tumour diagnosis.

Max, 32, shared a message with his one million Twitter followers on Tuesday evening and spoke out about the “devastating” and “scary” news Tom told the world earlier this week.

The star, who is set to appear on Strictly 2020, penned: “First of all… I think the bravery of Tom and Kelsey announcing their situation is incredible.

“It’s obviously a devastating and scary time… but for those who don’t know Tom I will say this. There is nothing that he has ever given up on and has never taken no for an answer.

“His heart is the size of a lions, and it is his drive and passion that has always led The Wanted and made sure we are looked after the right way.”

Max continued to call Tom his “brother,” and added to the poignant tweet: “Speaking as a brother, a friend and a band mate.. I know that you will conquer this as you have every other challenge you have ever faced.

“We are all on this journey together… and I can’t wait to get back on the stage with you and the boys and have a proper celebrations when you’re better.”

Ending his message to Tom, Max penned: “You got this man. I love you, Kels and all the family with all my heart and I’ll be right here.”

Max also shared a range of images of himself sharing special moments with bandmate and friend, Tom.

Max’s message to Tom was met with a huge amount of love, as thousands of likes and comments rushed the post.

“Thinking of you max,” wrote one fan, while another added: “If there is someone able to do this, that's him. Much love to you all x.”

A third wrote: “Love you so much Max! Keep strong for our Tom! He will need you more than ever right now! We all know how much of a fighter he is, he can do this!”

Tom, 32, announced the heartbreaking news that he had a brain tumour exclusively to OK! Magazine.

Talking about how his The Wanted bandmates had taken the news, he told us: "Obviously all the boys were as shocked as we were. They are gutted by the news, but they’ve been incredibly supportive.

"Jay [McGuinness] has been round to see us a few times since we got the news and is reading up on everything he can and Max [George] was here last week. Siva [Kaneswaran] and Nathan [Sykes] obviously live a lot further away, but all four of the boys have been texting regularly and sending through different articles and possible treatments and therapies that they’re all reading about."

The singing star, who had previously been fit and healthy, has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour and has begun radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment in an effort to prolong his life.

Fighting back tears, Tom told us: “It’s all I can think about right now.”

Following weeks of bizarre and unexplained seizures, panicked Tom finally got the tests he needed, where doctors broke the news he had a tumour known as a grade four glioblastoma – and it was "the worst case scenario".

Sadly, life expectancy on average for such an illness ranges from three months to 18 months after diagnosis.

Tom is married to doting wife Kelsey, and the pair share a 15 month old daughter named Aurelia together, and are expecting a baby boy.
