This Morning boss ‘sends email to update staff on Holly Willoughby return’10/09/2023
Emma Gormley, the Managing Director of Daytime at ITV Studios, has emailed This Morning staff to reassure them following a particularly “distressing time”, according to reports.
The ITV boss apparently felt it was important to reassure staff following an alleged plot to kidnap and murder This Morning host, Holly Willoughby.
The Sun has reported that Gormley has been offering support to staff, as well as addressing their questions over when Willoughby will be returning to the show after the alleged plot was rumbled.
In the email obtained by the publication, she explained bosses are focusing on the “safety and wellbeing” of the presenter and her family at this time.
The email reportedly reads: “I wanted to reassure you that throughout this distressing time, we have been in constant contact with Holly and the authorities and we are providing all the support we can.
“Inevitably there is already speculation about when Holly will return.
“However, our priority right now is the safety and wellbeing of Holly and her family.”
The reported email comes after former Pizza Hut worker Gavin Plumb, 36, has been charged and is accused of soliciting to commit murder and incitement to commit kidnap.
This Morning: Josie and Alison open the show
The father-of-two appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates Court last week after being held by officers on Wednesday.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in court again on November 3 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.
Willoughby, who is currently taking time off from This Morning, is said to be under 24-hour protection.
Meanwhile, her co-star Josie Gibson has stepped in as her temporary replacement until she returns.
A source told the Mirror on Sunday that Holly has been left “distraught” by the news amid what has been a truly “horrible week” for her family.
“At the moment she really is getting through things hour by hour. Her absolute priority is her own safety and that of her family – who are supporting her through this incredibly difficult time,” the source confirmed.
