adidas Seeks Comfort With Upcoming 4D Cush "Carbon/Solar Green"07/06/2021
adidas has kept the 4D sole unit (made from light, oxygen, and resin) relatively familiar throughout the course of its short lifetime, often delivering it in a green hue at around 5cm thick. It has appeared at just the rear of the heel on a 4D-BOOST hybrid, semi-concealed on Y3 pairs, and deceivingly thinner on the 4D Fusio, but now it has been given its most maximalist update so far.
For the adidas 4D Cush, cushioning is the aim of the game. At the rear, a large, pumped-up version of the 4D system appears in a “Carbon/Solar Green” mix, creating an elevated heel section before hitting what looks like adiPRENE. While we’re getting notes of the adidas Originals Ozweego’s adiPRENE midsole, wavy adidas branding on the medial-side midsole could mean this is some updated adidas tech.
As for the upper, you’ll find a mixture of mesh and TPU overlays that create a curvaceous, space-age aesthetic that combines with “Solar Green” waves on the mid-panel. YankeeKicks’ audience note nods to the Nike Air Max Tuned and Air Max 270 — but we’ll leave this up to you to decide.
Rounding out the shoe is a rather intriguing toe component that’s angular and protected with its bumper-like aesthetic, as well as Trefoil branding on the heel and more “Solar Green” hitting up the tongue. For now, we have no confirmation or further information on this pair, but we can expect to see more in the coming months ahead of the rumored 2022 release.
