Looking younger may be as simple as choosing the right makeup for you. Makeup Expert Laura Kay spoke exclusively to about how women can anti-age their faces instantly with just a few simple makeup tips.

Laura advised that a heavy foundation may not be the best product for looking younger.

In fact, she suggested that ladies make the swap to a lighter product as early as their 30s.

Laura stated: “If you are in your 30s or early 40s I advise using a CC cream for natural, youthful, glowing skin.”

In particular she recommended IT cosmetics’ CC cream, which is described on the official website as hydrating, anti-ageing skincare that delivers full coverage without creasing or cracking – “I just love it”.

Laura shared the benefits of this full coverage substitute for foundation.

She said: “CC Creams combine skincare and make up together making them very versatile and perfect for when you see your first signs of ageing.

“CC cream is brilliant it can help conceal and camouflage any signs of ageing such as fine lines and age spots.

“Not only this, they also contain SPF and the formula is hydrating which helps keep your skin looking fresh and dewy.”

Helen Dagdag, Sephora Collection national makeup artist, told Who What Wear: “The difference between CC [creams] and foundation is that CC creams have extra skincare benefits and a flexible, limited shade range.

“CCs are great for anyone who wants to apply with fingers and would like more coverage for concerns like dark spots, redness, or discolouration.”

She added that the ingredients in CC cream do not just have instant temporary benefits, but go much deeper, “helping to even out skin over time”.

Foundation, rather, is “great for buildable coverage” and is ideal for those who want an exact colour match.

For something a little heavier than CC cream, Laura assured mature women that foundation can still be okay – if applied properly.

She explained: “Rules for foundation in your 40s, 50s and 60s, I would say less is definitely more as you get older.”

Concealer is a good go-to for redness, pigmentation, and dark circles, but again must not be laid on too thick.

Laura instructed: “Using a concealer to hide any imperfections and lift any dark circles, is key.

“Anything too heavy will look more ageing and actually makes fine lines and wrinkles stand out more. Instead it is all about smoothing out any fine lines and softening up your appearance to look younger than you are – embrace your age to look younger is the message here.”

The expert recommended a specific product for doing so: “I personally love using Rodials Banana liquid concealer.”

According to the official website, this is “ideal for brightening and colour correcting under eye dark circles with light coverage” and “creating a healthy radiance”.

Laura concluded: “Light textured products are good and avoid slathering on your foundation as this will make you look dull and draw attention to imperfections.”
