We all know there are going to be consequences when we reach for our favourite sweets and treats.

Chocolate in particular are high in sugar and not all kinds are considered to be the healthy kind.

Cadbury’s Creme Eggs are one of the nation’s favourites, but have you ever wondered how much sugar is in one?

According to the official website , each 40g Creme Egg contains 177kcal, 6.1g of fat, 3.7g saturates, 0.06g salt and 26.5g of sugar.

It comes after a woman shared a post on The Little Red Hut Home & Gifs Facebook page which showed the Creme Egg next to a pile of sugar.

She wrote: “Warning, may upset Creme Egg lovers. This amount of sugar in one [Creme Egg]? Surely not… crikey!”

The NHS does advise anyone over the age of 11 to limit their daily sugar intake to 30g.

And it was no surprise that people on Twitter were startled by the amount of sugar in each Creme Egg.

One wrote: “Wowsers! That’s A LOT of sugar. I love a creme egg but this is shocking.”

A third added: “F**k off theres 26 g of sugar in a creme egg…”

While a fourth said: “People complaining about the amount of sugar in a Creme Egg but don't say anything when they have 6 coffees a day with 3 sugars and milk in it, let people eat their chocolate in piece.”
