Despite losing his first two matches, Scott Williams has been one of the stars of the Grand Slam of Darts so far.

While he may have struggled on the oche, with defeats Luke Humphries and Josh Rock, he has been entertaining fans on stage and social media. On Saturday, after losing to Humphries, he briefly gave his rival a double middle finger salute in jest. Williams took to social media the day after to apologise and joked he was waiting for Humphries to turn around so he could give him a Stone Cold Stunner, the signature move of WWE icon Steve Austin.

Humphries replied by saying he would have countered by giving Williams a Rock Bottom anyway. Williams perhaps should have saved the gesture for his next match, against the appropriately-named Rock.

Despite those defeats, Williams still has an outside chance of reaching the last 16 but he must beat Ryan Searle in his final group match tonight and hope that Humphries beats Rock.

Going into one of the biggest matches of his career, Williams, nicknamed Shaggy, is pondering a drastic outfit change following feedback from darts fans on social media.

The 33-year-old tweeted on Monday: “As its clear from reading social media the last couple of days, that the reason I'm losing is because of my attire. So with that said, I have decided to test the theory and wear this Gimp Suit for my final game vs Ryan tomorrow. See if it improves my game or not.”

One fan replied: “PVC Grand Slam of Darts.” Another asked: “Can I have it back when you're finished borrowing it please?”

A third joked: “They obviously haven’t seen you on Challenge Tours, exactly the same attire, and still amazing results.”

Williams is not currently a PDC Tour card holder and secured his Grand Slam place by topping the Challenge Tour Order of Merit. As a result, he will be on the full PDC Tour from next year and has secured a spot at the upcoming World Championship at the Alexandra Palace.

Earlier this year, he became the first non-PDC Tour card holder since 2018 to win ranking title when he triumphed at Players Championship 17 in Germany.
