Delta Goodrem received letter from Elton John after ‘intense’ part of her life03/07/2023
Aussie singer Delta Goodrem has revealed the special bond she has with music legend Elton John.
Delta, 38, has had an impressive career with a huge backlog of tracks and will be touring in the UK for the first time in April-May.
Her first encounter goes way back to her late teens when she was first diagnosed with cancer at 18.

Delta is now "fighting fit" but says this was when Elton, 75, first reached out to her.
The former Neighbours star said: "In the early careers of me starting out in my career, I was so lucky to have support from artists in the UK, whether we were doing Top of The Pops or when Elton John first reached out to me when I was first diagnosed with cancer or for my first song.
"When you're first stepping into the world as an artist, Elton has such incredible impact and he's so wonderful to the whole community, with artists, he has such authentic relationships."
A couple of years after Elton reached out to her, she met him in person when she was in the UK for the Royal Variety Performance, where she performed with ex-partner and Westlife star Brian McFadden.
Delta previously spoke about her encounter with Elton and told The Irish Sun: “That same night, someone else in the room asked me if I thought the guy I was seeing was really right for me – and in the time that followed, I made some choices that completely changed the trajectory of my career in the UK.
“It seemed like I was on front covers everywhere I looked – and for all the wrong reasons. All the focus was on my private life and none on my music, and it did put me off course there for a little while.
“When I circled back around these moments while I was making Bridge Over Troubled Dreams, I checked in with myself and reflected on that time and being in the UK, and it got me thinking, as the lyrics say, ‘Have I let you down, Rocket Man?’”
Delta then told us that she wrote the music star a song to let him know the impact he had on her during that time.
She said: "It was called Dear Elton and I wrote him a letter in a song, from that particular era, and I sent it to him and he wrote the most beautiful words back and ones I'll remember forever and he's been a wonderful light.
"I think it was a very intense chapter when I was younger and I definitely feel like I'm so thankful to be in this wonderful moment of my life now, it's so positive and I'm in a wonderful relationship, I'm raring to go and doing what I love."
Delta will be playing four different UK venues – Glasgow on April 5, London on April 30, Birmingham on 2 May and Manchester on May 3.
