    LONGSHOT

    ACAPELLA BOURGEOIS (5.15 Aintree)

Acapella Bourgeois has some smart form and beat Burrows Saint last time around.

He is a sound jumper who can hit the frame in the Grand National at tasty odds.

Definitely one that shouldn't be ruled out

    COP PICK

Ged Mason, who co-owns Give Me A Copper and Templegate fancy Clan Des Obeaux, recently spoke of how much Give Me A Copper means to him and legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Mason said: "Sir Alex without question shares the same enthusiasm for going back – he loves jump racing and since leaving football management it's been a big hobby of his.

"Give Me A Copper should get in the National and it would be great to have a runner.

"It's one of the biggest worldwide jumps races so that will be a thrill.

"He's always been a little bit tricky to train but Paul always gets the best out of his horses and hopefully he can work his magic with him"

    A NEW DAWN

Rachael Blackmore, Bryony Frost and Tabitha Worsley have never had a better chance of making history.

In that time there have been 172 renewals, glory, agony, ecstasy and heartbreak – but never a woman passing the post in first.

The closest was Katie Walsh aboard Seabass in 2012, when she came third.

But there's a change in the air this year.

Blackmore, 31, has already made history this year, becoming the first woman to be crowned top jockey at last month's Cheltenham Festival.

There, in Jump racing's most prestigious meet, she blew away rivals time after time and became a household name.

    Minella Times is now 8/1…

    MAN UTD 1 LIVERPOOL 0

Sir Alex Ferguson can celebrate another win in Liverpool today – thanks to his Grand National runner.

The Manchester United legend's horse Give Me A Copper will run in the world's most famous race – after the ex-Man Utd boss already landed a 108-1 treble at the Liverpool course.

The horse, who Fergie co-owns with four others, has been targeted at the big one since 2019.

Give Me A Copper is currently a 50-1 shot for the 40-runner contest.

    TEMPLEGATE'S BEST BET TOMORROW

And it comes in the big one tomorrow afternoon.

It would be no surprise to see one of Willie Mullins' getting involved at the finish!

BURROWS SAINT won the Irish version two years ago and has improved since. Willie Mullins has trained him for this race and he warmed up with a solid second at Fairyhouse.
He was beaten by stablemate Acapella Bourgeois that day and he has a massive each-way shout too at big odds. Stamina is no issue with him.

    A REMINDER

The Grand National WILL go ahead tomorrow as planned, racing chiefs have confirmed.

Aintree bosses held crunch talks in the wake of Prince Philip's death.

The Duke of Edinburgh passed away at Windsor Castle aged 99, it was confirmed today.

Prince Philip had been an honorary member of the Jockey Club since 1947.

He regularly accompanied the Queen, a high-profile owner and breeder of top racehorses, to meets including Royal Ascot and the Epsom Derby.

Last year's Grand National was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The first day of racing in this year's Grand National Festival got underway in Merseyside yesterday.

And the Jockey Club confirmed the world's most famous race will retain its slot of 5.15pm Saturday after talks were held this afternoon.
