My ex claimed I assaulted her – now people are sending me death threats | The Sun

DEAR DEIDRE: AN online witch-hunt has driven me to the brink of suicide, with people telling dreadful lies about me on social media.

I’m a 37-year-old man and have never been in trouble with the law or done anything to hurt anyone, yet my reputation is in tatters and I’m scared for my safety.

A few months ago, I had a short fling with a woman of 25, which went pear-shaped when I said I didn’t want to see her any more.

She suddenly started telling people that I’d forced her to have sex. It was a lie made up out of spite.

Nasty comments started to appear on my social media pages, calling me scum and a rapist – even a nonce.

There were covert threats, too.

I tried to get them taken down, but the social network refused.

Now, even my friends have started to avoid me. People think there’s no smoke without fire.

I can’t eat or sleep and I feel like my life is over.
