Nectar Mattress review: save 45% until TOMORROW01/04/2022
WE SPEND almost a third of our lives in bed, so choosing the right mattress is crucial for our wellbeing.
With that in mind, we decided to put the Nectar mattress to the test to find out if it lives up to the hype.
The claims Nectar makes about its mattress are pretty big: it claims to make you more comfortable if you're a hot sleeper, thanks to a top layer comprising of aquilted cooling cover, as well as non-stop airflow; to improve spinal alignment, no matter your body type; and to allow you to move round freely without fear of waking your light-sleeping partner.
However, reviews back up the claims: over 10,000 reviews on Trustpilot have given the Nectar mattress a rating of four and a half stars, with people pointing out the friendliness of Nectar's service and the peace of mind offered by the company's year-long trial period, as well as the comfort of the mattress itself.
Read on for our review of the Nectar mattress.
(Tested Spring 2021)
- Excellent value, especially with the free gifts
- 365-night trial
- Slight odour when first out the box
Nectar mattress review: summary

The Nectar Memory Foam Mattress was perfect for our needs from autumn through winter. Billed as medium/firm, it solved the overheating-when-sleeping issue that many living in a humid city will be familiar with.
We didn't feel our partner moving during the night, and the mattress provided peace of mind thanks to its support layers: you can be right at the edge of the mattress without any risk of the edge giving way, meaning there's no nightmares about finding yourself flipped onto the floor.
Overall, we'd highly recommend the Nectar Memory Foam Mattress. The 365 nights included in the trial and the five free gifts make it extremely good value, and once we'd adapted to the firmness of the mattress, we found it to be comfortable and supportive. We no longer want to get out of bed in the mornings.

Nectar Sleep offers a contact-free delivery with free shipping and returns.
It arrived within a week of ordering in a sleek and colourful box, which made the purchasing experience even more exciting.
Unsurprisingly, the mattress box is a bit heavy, so make sure you've got someone around to help you to carry the box to the bedroom.
You'll want to remove the packaging in the bedroom, because once out of the box and plastic packaging, the mattress is difficult to move.
Each Nectar mattress comes with two complimentary pillows, fitted in the mattress itself, which we found to be a very thoughtful added touch.

You'll find a handy cutter tool for easy mattress release included in your packaging, and after unpacking the mattress, you'll need to leave the mattress to expand for several hours.
Nectar states that the mattress expansion depends on many factors including air pressure, humidity, and ventilation, so don't stress if it takes slightly longer for your mattress to reach its full size.
The mattress we tested (a double one), took around seven hours to expand completely and left a slight odour in the surrounding area, so we suggest ventilating your bedroom well for a few days once your mattress is out of the packaging. A booklet with key information as well as a sleep journal (if that's your sort of thing) is included in the delivery box.
The Nectar mattress is described as a medium-firm, and we found that to be accurate.
We'll admit that the first night of sleep left us wondering if we'd ever get used to medium/firm feel; it's a bit of a shock if you're used to a soft coil mattress.
However, after a couple of nights we were sleeping sounder than ever.
The Nectar Memory Foam Mattress features an adaptive cooling cover and the smart memory foam technology responds to your body, dissipating heat and moisture and helping to maintain a comfortable temperature throughout your body.

The mattress temperature regulation meant we were comfortably cool at night, which is no mean feat considering the bed was up against a radiator.
We think the Nectar mattress is ideal if you're a side sleeper like us, as the mattress hugged our body comfortably leaving our spine nice and straight.
We also couldn't feel our partner moving when sleeping – which used to be a big problem – and as a result, both of us have been sleeping better and more deeply.
A few months into the test period, we couldn't imagine sleeping on anything different.
How does the Nectar mattress feel a year on?
We've had the Nectar Mattress for a year now, and can say that it literally got better with every night.
We look forward to sleeping in our bed every single night. The mattress has not changed its firmness or shape in any way. We've rotated the mattress after around 6 months, as recommended.
We love drinking coffee in bed on Saturday mornings, and always leave a coffee cup on the mattress. We're not afraid to move – the cup stays in the same place. If there's one investment you can make this year, a Nectar mattress is a prime candidate.
Its incredibly soft surface has stayed the same since we unpacked the mattress and we know that it will serve years to come.
How much is the Nectar mattress?
The Nectar comes in five mattress sizes ranging from Single to Super King. When you pay full whack, their prices come in at:
- Single – £569
- Small Double – £739
- Double – £749
- King -£819
- Super King – £929
Nectar claims that its "prices can't be beaten", and it's true that they compare well to those of the Nectar Mattress' rivals — the Simba Hybrid, which has an identical depth and makes many similar claims, starts at £649 for a Single, and prices reach £1,109 for a Super King.
Brook and Wilde's Lux Mattress, meanwhile, costs £599 for a Single and £999 for a Super King, but unlike Nectar, Brook and Wilde gives customers the option to choose their mattress' level of firmness, which could persuade shoppers to fork out the extra cash.
Emma's two mattress offerings sit either side of the Nectar, price wise – its Original mattress, which has the same 25cm depth and five layers as the Nectar and comes with a 4.9 star rating on Trustpilot, starts at £499, while its more sophisticated premium mattress starts at £749.
To make things even more affordable, Nectar is currently offering 45% off any mattress as part of its "Snoozy New Year sale". However, you'll need to act quick — the offer ends at 11:59 tomorrow (January 5).
The offer takes the price of a double Memory Foam Mattress from £749 to £411.95, a saving of £337.05.

Nectar mattress review: the verdict
The Nectar Mattress exceeded all our expectations and the bonus gifts (two pillows and a sleep journal) have set us up for a great start.
It took us a week or so to get used to the firmness, but we think our sleep has improved ever since.

It's firm enough to support the whole body when sleeping, but not so much so as to prevent you from being comfortable, and it allows air flow which stops you overheating.
Overall, we really enjoyed testing out the mattress and the only minus was the slight odour in the room when it was fresh out of the packaging.
What is the Nectar Mattress made of?
The Nectar Mattress is made from three layers of foam: two layers of memory foam and a base layer of stabilizing foam.

The specially engineered viscoelastic foam supports all sleepers (front, back and side), with the base layer minimizing motion transfer to whoever shares the bed.
Each mattress has a polyester cooling cover to keep you cool during sleep.
How to clean the Nectar Mattress
It's important that you clean your mattress on regular basis in order to prolong its life.
Nectar's handy guide of how to clean your mattress can help you out when you need to remove stains or any spillage.
We suggest getting a mattress protector: it not only prevents stains but keeps bed bugs and dust mites away from your mattress.
If you have a spill, you should always clean your mattress straight away using baking soda or distilled white wine vinegar.
Is the Nectar Mattress cool?
Memory foam mattresses are often guilty of making you too hot because memory foam clings so close to your body.

However, thanks to the latest technology, the Nectar Mattress has an adaptive cooling cover, that can help you fight sleep overheating.
When we were testing out the mattress, it kept us cool during night, and that has greatly improved our sleep quality.
Other reviewers have also been raving about the quality of the Nectar mattress, saying 'From the first night sleeping on my new mattress it was amazing. I had the best night’s sleep I’ve had in months. So comfy I didn’t want to get out'.
You can find the full range of reviews here.
Is the Nectar Mattress too soft?
On the scale from one to ten, starting from very soft to firm, the Nectar mattress rates at 6.5, meaning it's slightly more firm than the average memory foam mattress.
If you find a Nectar mattress to be too firm for your needs, you can simply return it as the brand has an excellent 365-day home trial.
How long will Nectar mattresses last?
Due to the quality of the memory foam layer, Nectar mattresses are expected to last between six and eight years.
One of the Nectar's main selling points is that it comes with a lifetime guarantee – if something is faulty in your mattress, the company will repair or replace it, no matter how long you've had it for.
Are Nectar mattresses sold in stores?
Over in the US Nectar mattresses are stocked in stores nationwide, but the brand has yet to replicate that feat on this side of the Atlantic, meaning that the only way to try out a Nectar mattress is to order online. However, due to the year-long trial period, you don't have to worry too much if you don't like it, and delivery is free.
