08/26/2023A SHOP you've never heard that's nicknamed "little Ikea" could be coming to a high street near you.
Søstrene Grene operates in more than 275 locations around the world and has plans to further expand its UK presence.
The Danish retailer chain was founded in Denmark in 1973 by husband and wife Inger Grene and Knud Cresten Vaupell Olsen.
Like Ikea, the stores sell homeware and furniturer designed in a typical Scandinavian fashion.
But instead of operating out of out-of-town retail parks, Søstrene Grene operates at smaller stores which are on or linked to the high street.
The brand also stocks kitchenware, gifts, stationary and other interior furnishings.

Shoppers can bag side tables, desks, shleves, cabinets for under £150 and the chain boats a wide variaty of home accessiors including lighting, rugs and textiles.
Those who love home fragrance can also get their hands on dozens of different types of candles and the cheapest ones cost just 40p.
The homeware chain already operates across 11 UK stores in:

- Thames Street, Kingston Upon Thames
- Eden Centre, High Wycombe
- Parkway, Newburry
- Brewery Quarter, Cheltenham
- Victoria Centre, Nottingham
- Derbion, Derby
- Cambridge Street, Sheffield
- George Street, Altrincham
- Cross Street, Manchester
- Grosvenor, Chester

But it has plans to open a further two stores later on this year.
Victoria Place in Woking will welcome the Danish store by opening a brand new 4,673 square foot shop and trhe first of its kind in Surrey.
Norma Jacob and Richard Power, UK joint venture partners at Søstrene Grene, said: "Søstrene Grene has been undergoing a wide expansion across the UK, particularly across the south of England, so we are excited to be able to announce that we will be opening in Woking later this year.
"Victoria Place is a brilliant location in the heart of Woking and we’re looking forward to introducing our brand to a new audience, marking our first store launch in the region."
The chain is also set to open a brand new store at the Royal Priors Shopping Centre in Lemmington Spa too.
Les Watkins, deputy centre manager at Royal Priors said: "Sostrene Grene are going to be a fantastic new addition to Royal Priors and Leamington Spa, with such a variety of product ranges for the home.
"We're very much looking forward to welcoming customers to the new store opening."
It remains unclear when the chain will open these new stores but we've reached out and asked.
Søstrene Grene's products rival both Ikea's products for price and style.
But shoppers in need of larger items of furniture like beds, wardrobes and dining tables will have to look elsewhere because Søstrene Grene has a focus on smaller items.
