Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? viewers have been left ‘gutted’ for Scarlett Moffatt after she lost £8,000 on the ITV programme last night.

The British TV personality, 31, was hoping to win the £1million jackpot for the charity Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust.

But the former Gogglebox star took home her safety net of just £8,000 after answering the £32,000 question wrongly – losing out on the £8,000 extra she could’ve won having answered the £16,000 question correctly.

Calling her father Mark Moffatt for help, Scarlett was asked by host Jeremy Clarkson what Admiral Nelson has in his left hand on the statue at the top of Nelson’s Column in London’s Trafalgar Square.

However, the duo answered wrongly, picking a telescope after being given the options of a rifle, a telescope, a book or a sword. The correct answer was sword.

Elsewhere on the programme, Judge Robert Rinder took part in the quiz and walked away with a staggering £64,000 for his charity Buttle UK, which aims to unlock children’s potential through smart interventions.

A third added: ‘No way, I thought it would be a telescope too! #whowantstobeamillionaire.’

Before ringing her father, Scarlett told Jeremy: ‘Hang on, there’s an insurance company advert where there is a little Admiral – I don’t know if he’s Nelson – but I’m sure he has a little telescope.

‘Surely, that insurance company definitely has a telescope. Then I’m thinking I ring my dad? I’m going to ring my dad,’ she added.

During their 30-second phone call, Mark said: ‘Oh I don’t know. He’s on a ship so I would have thought a telescope.’

But when asked how certain he was with his answer, the father admitted: ‘About 75 per cent.’

Following the chat with her parent, Scarlett said: ‘Okay. I trust my dad, because he’s my dad, so I’m going to go for telescope. Final answer.’

Thankfully, earlier in the show Scarlett had set her safety net at £8,000 – meaning she still walked away with that amount for her charity despite answering incorrectly.
