Antiques Road Trip presenter mortified as 'favourite item' takes disastrous turn at BBC auction | The Sun
03/09/2023ANTIQUES Road Trip presenter Izzie Balmer was left mortified after her 'favourite item' took a disastrous turn at auction.
The BBC programme's latest episode saw Izzie and Ishy Khan continue on their journey to try and find items that would do well at auction.
Izzie clocked an Art Nouveau vase which she believed was "Christopher Dresser" in its style.
It was priced at £75 in the Knaresborough antiques shop, but she managed to barter down to £60.
She said: "This sort of item used to do so well – it used to be really popular, which is why I bought it.
"I sort of hoped it might be a Christopher Dresser design or similar."

She wasn't alone in her thinking, as auctioneer Hettie Jago, of Arthur Johnson Auctioneers, Nottingham, also picked it out as a favourite that could do well among the bidders.
Hettie said: "The arts and crafts vase is one of my favourite lots I think it's absolutely beautiful.
"I love the bamboo detailed handles. I think this is going to attract a lot of interest."
Sadly that didn't turn out to be the case, as the bids started below what Izzie was expecting, prompting her to hide behind her iPad.

She said: "I'm just hiding until it gets into a profit."
In the end, she didn't get her wish, as it sold for £60, which is what she paid for it.
Despite that, Izzie still managed to come out on top and was ahead of Ishy going into the next programme.
