There's a Bad Girls reunion going down in Walford as actress Simone Lahbib gets set to join EastEnders.

The TV star, who is best known for playing Larkhall governor Helen Stewart in the ITV prison drama, is arriving in the square with a huge storyline that is apparently linked to Mick Carter.

She began filming scenes earlier this summer with episodes set to air shortly, which means that soap fans will get to see her reunite with her former Bad Girls castmates, Linda Henry, Kellie Bright and Luisa Bradshaw White, who are all members of the Carter family.

Simone's character, which is being kept a mystery for now, is believed to be bringing a whole whirlwind of drama for the Carter family with her when she arrives in Walford.

"She's a mystery woman connected to Mick and is going to play havoc with the Carters," a source told The Sun.

"Bosses are staying tight-lipped on who exactly she is and what she wants but it's set to be explosive."

Simone's Bad Girls role is perhaps her biggest role to date and most recognisable, as Helen Stewart for the first three series of the show she was locked in a bitter rivalry with evil prison officer Jim Fenner.

Her character fought for better rights of the inmates but ultimately went on to fall in love with prisoner Nikki and resigned before Jim could out her secret romance.

The 55 year old Scottish actress, who has a daughter Skye Lucia Degruttola with husband Raffaello Degruttola, also starred as DCI Alex Fielding in TV crime series Wire in the Blood alongside Robson Green as well as other TV roles in Downton Abbey and New Tricks.

Simone is certainly proud to be adding the iconic soap EastEnders to her acting CV, as she gushed about her character: "I'm thrilled to be joining EastEnders. I can't say too much about who I am playing just yet, but it's fair to say that she is set to have a lasting impact on the Carter's and will test their strength as a family.

"It's also been lovely to be reunited with Linda, Luisa and Kellie – it’s been a bit of a Bad Girls reunion!"

EastEnders' executive producer Jon Sen added: "We're delighted to welcome Simone to Walford. Her character's links to the Carter family will form part of an important new storyline for Mick in particular. It's a story that we look forward to sharing with the audience – with its impact on the Carters set to be everlasting."
