Antiques Roadshow fans were baffled as they watched the Christmas special of the antiques show over the weekend.
BBC viewers sat down to watch the special festive episode hosted by Fiona Bruce – which aired to BBC One on Sunday night (December 19).
However, many were left scratching their heads when they were shown scenes that had been filmed back in the summer as opposed to in the winter – which would be more fitting for a Christmas special.
Presenter Fiona donned a winter coat for the intro sequence, but she quickly took fans back to the middle of the summer for the first look at the antiques.
Introducing the episode, Fiona said: "Welcome to the Antiques Roadshow at Christmas."
However, the show immediately panned to a summery setting in London – where the antiques lovers were wearing summer dresses and t-shirts.
Fiona said: "We begin with a look back to our roadshow at Forty Hall in North London – filmed on a glorious summer's day in 2020.
"We saw so many items – we couldn't show them all – including some that looked a little out of place."
Fans were immediately distracted by the surprising summer section of the show – and some took to Twitter to ask what was going on.
One viewer said:" Why do they call it Antiques Roadshow at Christmas? It's quite obviously summertime when they filmed this episode."
A second said: "Christmas special: segments that weren't interesting enough to make the regular show."
A third commented: "This is a repeat."
On the official description of the programme, the BBC did state that the episode was to feature unseen footage from the 2021 series – as well as festive surprises.
The write-up read: "Fiona Bruce presents a special Christmas show featuring unseen footage and festive treats."
