Below Deck’s Eddie on season 8 return and when he last spoke to Rocky

10/29/2020

Below Deck fans went into meltdown when it was confirmed that Eddie Lucas would be returning on board for season eight.

We last saw everyone’s favourite bosun departing the reality show in the third series, after he came clean about his affair with third stewardess Raquel ‘Rocky’ Dakota – despite having a girlfriend on land.

In shocking scenes, the pair snuck off to the laundry room to have sex away from the prying eyes of the Bravo cameras.

Eddie initially kept quiet about their romps and branded his co-star a liar when she came clean, before revealing the truth himself.

Chatting to Metro.co.uk ahead of the season eight premiere next week, the 35-year-old explained he was hoping to redeem himself with bestie Captain Lee, as well as those watching on from home, with his comeback.

‘The last time I spoke to Rocky was during the 100th episode reunion in January,’ he told us. ‘Was I nervous about coming back? A little nervous, you always have some nerves about going back and being in front of the camera again, putting yourself out there.

‘But I feel that in the past five years, I’ve got a better head on my shoulders and I’ve dealt with a lot of the issues that I was having at the time. I was just trying to go in staying true to myself and doing the best job I could.

‘I’m confident in my abilities as a sailor. I knew that if I just stayed true to that, and stayed the course, then I’d be alright.’

Lifting the lid on why he set sail on another charter season, Eddie continued: ‘It’s been quite a bit of time, I think about five, six years since I filmed my last season.

‘For this season Captain Lee is coming back without Kate [Chastain], and I know that he needed someone back in his corner, and he asked for my help, so I wanted to be able to come back.

‘Also after the last season I did, things were not ideal, I left pretty embarrassed and with a bad taste in my mouth.

‘So I thought this was a good time where I could come back and have a little redemption, show viewers that the mistakes that I made in the past are not what define me.

‘And just try to come back, have a lot of fun, do a lot of hard work and try to make some jokes about it. Bring the show back to the OG status.’

Following a rollercoaster series of spin-off Below Deck Mediterranean, the original Below Deck will be returning to screens on November 2, with episodes available to stream the following day on HayU.

And we can’t wait to see what they all get up to.

All seasons and every episode of Below Deck (including the new season 8) will be available to stream and download in the UK from November 3.
