A Place in the Sun took a trip to Costa de la Luz in Spain for the latest episode of the Channel 4 property show. Presenter Leah Charles King guided house hunters Carrie and Steve around the area in a bid to find them their dream holiday home. Armed with a budget of just £110,000, Leah had a challenge on her hands. However, she got a surprise during one viewing when the couple left before seeing the whole property.
Retired teachers Carrie and Steve were hoping to find their dream Spanish holiday home.
They told Leah they were looking for a two-bedroom property as close to the beach as possible.
The presenter struggled to impress Carrie and Steve with her first property, with the couple complaining there wasn’t enough space.
However, Leah hoped to make a better impression with the second apartment she had lined up for them.
As they arrived at the second property, Leah explained it was a two-bedroom apartment on a golf complex.
The holiday home also featured outdoor space and a roof terrace with a view of the communal pool.
It was on the market for slightly over the couple’s budget, priced at around £116,500.
While Carrie and Steve confessed the apartment was more spacious than the previous property, it soon became clear they still weren’t happy.
“I’m getting the feeling here this probably isn’t working out,” Leah laughed.
Carrie replied: “I still don’t particularly feel like this is a lovely place to be. I just think… a bit gloomy.”
“Alright, so shall we just call it quits here then?” Leah asked. “Would you like to see the rest of the property?”
Steve swiftly replied: “No, I think we can call it a day.”
“Okay, how can I then improve moving forward?” Leah questioned.
“If you can get something like that downstairs, but in more of a house version,” Steve said.
Carrie added: “I want to walk in and just know that it’s the right place.”
Leah remarked: “Okay, I think I’ve got it: townhouse, a bit more space, and hopefully just a better vibe.”
Some viewers were unimpressed with the couple’s decision to leave the viewing, taking to Twitter to share their thoughts.
“#aplaceinthesun why don’t they even look at the rest of the flat that’s so rude why do that, all that effort etc,” @rng88991 said.
“They’ve given Leah a difficult pair for her first show. #aplaceinthesun,” @YTVChase commented.
A Place in the Sun airs weekdays at 4pm on Channel 4.
