Casualty star quits show after two years in moving tribute to fans

Casualty trailer hints at Zoe Hanna’s return

A Casualty producer has announced that he is leaving the BBC series after two years.

Jon Sen, who previously worked on EastEnders, revealed that he is stepping away from the medical drama and will leave his role later this year.

Taking to X, formally known as Twitter, he said: “With a heavy heart, I’m leaving @BBCCasualty later this year.

“It’s been amazing & hv loved every minute working with creative minds and superb talent. But new horizons beckon. Thanks for the wonderful support we have received over the past two years.” (sic)

Many of his 3,000 followers flooded the comments section and wished him the best of luck.

One person commented: “Sorry to hear that Jon, cracking work on your watch!”

A second typed: “Well done Jon! Best of luck on the new horizons!!!”

A third penned: “Best of luck, Jon. I know whatever you do will be great!”

A fourth also chimed in: “Congratulations on a fabulous two years and best of luck in your new venture.”

A fifth also said: “A superb two years and must have been a tough decision. Onto new adventures! X.”

It was announced last month by the BBC that Casualty would be taking an extended break until further notice.

Despite recieving backlash from fans, the broadcaster also said that it would return later this year.

There is no specific date announced, but with two and a half months left of 2023 to go, it should expected to be soon.

On September 23rd, the BBC show announced: “#Casualty will return. Casualty is on a break and will be back on your screens later this year.”

Casualty will return on Saturdays on BBC One.
