EastEnders legend Adam Woodyatt treated fans to an Albert Square throwback on Thursday as he celebrated being on the show for 36 years.

The 52-year-old actor took to Instagram to mark the occasion and share a black and white photo of himself and the Enders cast stood in a semi-circle outside the Queen Vic pub.

A second image was a very recent selfie of Adam with his co-stars Letitia Dean and Gillian Taylforth, who play Sharon Watts and Kathy Beale respectively.

The actor – who plays the role of Ian Beale – captioned the post: "29th October 1984 was the start of my first contract with @bbceastenders. 36 years later, three of us are still dancing and messing around outside the Queen Vic."

Fans were quick to comment on the photos, with one person writing: "This is wicked mate!"

A second person added: "Brilliant! Feeling my age now as watched most of these characters all my life!"

And a third person commented: "Thank goodness you stayed!!!"

Adam's post comes after it was reported that he will be taking an "extended break" from EastEnders.

The news comes after news came to light that Adam had split from his wife of 22 years, Beverly Sharp.

Adam – who married Bev in 1998 – was reportedly the one who made the decision to end the romance, but insiders insist there is no third party involved.

A source told The Sun at the time: "Beverley was naturally very upset, as anybody would be in the circumstances, but these things happen and it’s a straightforward separation.

"Nobody plans for these things and divorce is a difficult thing to get your head around but they have dealt with it quietly for several months and are now telling friends so it’s less of a secret.

"They still get on well, and are keen to make sure they stay that way for the sake of their children – even though they are now grown up."

Adam was pictured l ooking slimmer than ever in a recent backstage picture after shedding the pounds during lockdown earlier this year.
