Rhys Stephenson and Nancy Xu joined Steph McGovern and resident chef John Whaite on Steph’s Packed Lunch on Tuesday. The Channel 4 presenter quizzed Rhys on his Strictly Come Dancing journey but the CBBC presenter was stunned when fellow contestant John made a cheeky jibe about training.
Steph began: “Rhys, you look like you’re in your element, are you enjoying?”
“I am loving it so much,” he replied before being asked about rehearsing for Saturday’s live show.
“I’ll be real I nearly missed this because I was rehearsing so much and I looked at my phone and remembered this,” he explained.
“It’s going well it just consumes you Steph nothing else matters in that moment you just want to get those moves but it’s great when you get it it feels amazing, John knows.”

“How is Rhys doing?” Steph asked Nancy who replied: “This boy is pushing himself very hard I’m blessed.”
The CBBC presenter said: “We do the routine and I think, ‘There are no notes here she’s going to love it,’ and then she goes, ‘Here are five notes, you’ve got five minors.’ As long as there are no majors it’s fine.
“Nancy is a taskmaster but that’s what I want – she looks at every little detail because she believes I can do it so I believe I can do it.”
Interjecting, John commented: “You don’t look very sweaty considering it’s half past one you should be wet through now if you’re really rehearsing.”
“How dare you John there’s sweat all over, you just can’t see my back,” Rhys hit back.
“Who are you to talk to me about sweat what are you doing? Where’s your sweat?”
John replied: “I’m having a love-in I’ve got to keep [Steph] happy.”
Elsewhere on the show, John’s partner of 13 years, Paul Atkins joined the Strictly star and Steph.

The host asked whether the pair were concerned about the infamous “curse”.
Paul replied: “If you could see him at the end of the day after a full day’s rehearsing, he can barely walk so there’s no room for anything else.”
“He crawls through the door at the end of the day,” he added.
Steph’s Packed Lunch’s resident chef went on to discuss his upcoming performance for Movie Week.

John and Johannes Radebe will be dancing a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed Paso Doble.
He shared: “I love it, I think it might be my favourite dance yet. I’m going to be a pirate. Hopefully, it’s going to be a very masculine affair.”
Discussing his costume, he quipped: “I’ve asked for thigh-high boots but they’re going to give me knee-high boots because I’ve got to bend.
“I’ve asked for a sequin parrot, but I don’t think I’ll get that.”
Strictly Come Dancing continues on BBC One on Saturday at 6.45pm. Steph’s Packed Lunch airs on Channel 4 on weekdays at 12.30pm.
