I’m A Celeb hit by MORE Ofcom complaints by fans furious about live animals being ‘squashed’ in trials

I’M A Celebrity has today been hit by MORE Ofcom complaints by fans – this time furious about live animals being "squashed" in trials.

Last night saw Jordan North fight back tears and claim he had "never been so scared in his life" as he faced a terrifying snake trial with co-star Shane Richie.

The Radio 1 DJ confronted his fear of snakes as he and actor Shane tackled The Viper Vault challenge.

The pair were chosen by the public to take part in the trial, which saw them locked inside vaults built into the floor of the Welsh castle hosting this year's series.

Inside each vault was five locked safes, each containing a star that would earn a meal for camp.

But of course they weren't alone, as packed into the vaults were 60 snakes.

They then had to work together to find the codes for the safes.

But as the distressed Jordan and frightened Shane worked their way through the terrifying trial, some fans were left concerned for the snakes who were being "squashed" during the challenge.

A spokesperson for regulator Ofcom confirmed to the Mirror that last night's episode clocked up 13 complaints in total – all relating to animal welfare.

The previous night had also seen complaints about Jordan vomiting before he abseiled down a clifftop before entering camp.

Jordan has had a tough time so far on I'm A Celebrity.

Unfortunately, the more he complains, the more viewers will vote for him to do the trials.

Tonight he will face one of the dreaded eating challenges.

Along with Beverley Callard and Vernon Kay, he will take on the Frights of the Round Table BushTucker Trial.
