Jesy Nelson ‘didn’t tell bandmates she was quitting Little Mix’ and they ‘only found out from Instagram post’

JESY Nelson surprised her Little Mix bandmates when she announced she was leaving the group on Instagram.

The Boyz singer shocked her Little Mix bandmates, Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirlwall when she told the world she was leaving the group before telling them personally.

Jesy told her followers on December 14, 2020 that she quit Little Mix.

The singer was a member of the group since they formed on The X Factor in 2011, but decided to move on to focus on her mental health and to launch a solo career.

She had previously said that Jade, Perrie and Leigh-Anne had approached her mum to express their concern over Jesy's mental health and that she should consider taking a break.

Jesy agreed and quit Little Mix but allegedly announced it on Instagram, blindsiding the rest of the group.

"Jesy created this scenario. She left the band without telling the girls or management directly and they heard about it through her lawyers," a sourced told Daily Mail.

"Those around her have been supporting her for ten years and protected her and are devastated over all this."

After Jesy made her statement, the girls simply released a statement expressing their love for her.

Together they have sold more than 50million records, landing two Brit Awards, four number one singles and releasing six albums along the way.

Jesy has been accused of stealing black culture in a “blackfishing” row over the past few days since the release of her debut solo single, Boyz.

She donned braids in her hair in the video, looked very tanned and wore a gold grill.

When quizzed about it last week Jesy said she has only faced allegations of “blackfishing” since quitting the group.

But, The Sun revealed Leigh-Anne, 30, fell out with Jesy for using dark fake tan and hairstyles to make it appear she had black heritage.

Leigh-Anne, who has Barbadian and Jamaican ancestry, warned Jesy over her look last summer while making a BBC documentary on racism.

It drove a wedge between the women, known for their hit single Shout Out To My Ex, months before Jesy quit the girl group in December.

A source said: “Leigh-Anne had a conversation with Jesy, trying to explain why she was upset and why it could be offensive. She felt she had to address it while making her racism documentary, but it apparently fell on deaf ears.

“For Jesy to now claim that it has never been mentioned to her before is really rude.

“It’s upsetting she hasn’t taken any of this on board.”

A source close to the band claimed Little Mix’s reps also warned her about it after she sported her hair in braids three years ago.

Jesy said she was a “white British woman” causing outrage from some fans who felt they had been led to believe she was biracial.

Asked previously about claims she is “blackfishing,” Jesy said: “The whole time I was in Little Mix I never got any of that. Then I came out of [the band] and people all of a sudden were saying it.”
