Lorraine left red-faced as she gets guest’s name wrong in awkward interview

Lorraine Kelly returned to our screens this morning for the first instalment of her ITV talk show Lorraine of the week.

The Scottish presenter, 60, welcomed comedian Karl Pilkington onto her sofa today but things quickly turned awkward between the pair.

As Lorraine introduced Idiot Abroad star Karl to viewers, she stumbled over his name and ended up pronouncing his surname wrong.

The ITV star's error didn't go unnoticed by Karl, who quickly corrected her.

"It's Pilkington," Karl explained.

"You've said it three different ways now."

Lorraine was left red-faced and giggled uncontrollably as she finally pronounced his name correctly.

ITV viewers also rushed to correct Lorraine as she once again mispronounced Karl's surname at the end of the interview.

Taking to Twitter, one fan penned: "It’s Karl Pilkington, not Pinkerton."

Another added: "Only Lorraine could ruin a Karl Pilkington interview."

A third said: "Karl Pilkington is the perfect miserable b*****d to counteract LK’s false cheeriness."
