Louise Minchin ‘lined up for Strictly appearance’ after quitting BBC Breakfast

NEWSREADER Louise Minchin is being lined up for Strictly according to bookmakers after quitting BBC Breakfast.

Odds on the broadcaster, 52, waltzing her way into the 2021 line-up have been slashed following her shock exit from the show after 20 years.

Jessica O'Reilly of Ladbrokes told The Sun: "Louise is well-loved on BBC One and although fans of Breakfast will soon miss her, the odds suggest it won't be too long before she's back on screen as a Strictly contestant."

Louise wouldn't be out of place in the line-up.

The dancefloor show previously hired TV journalists Ranvir Singh, Susanna Reid and Natasha Kaplinsky in past series.

And fellow broadcaster, former footballer-turned-pundit Micah Richards, has also been touted as a potential contestant on Strictly Come Dancing 2021.

Coral have put the odds of Richard appearing on and winning the show as 16-1.

“The former Manchester City footballer is clearly comfortably on the dance floor so it would be no surprise if he was part of the Strictly line-up in 2021,” said Coral’s John Hill.

The line-up rumours also include Googlebox star Tom Malone who quit the reality TV show in March, and actors Ralph Little, Vicky McClure, Lucy Fallon, as well as TV presenter Maya Jama.

The BBC has not yet confirmed when Strictly Come Dancing 2021 will start.

The 2020 series started in mid-October, a month later than usual due to the Covid pandemic – but it remains to be seen whether the new series will go back to the regular September start.

The 2020 series ran for nine weeks instead of the usual 13.
