Love Island fans have been left shocked after Jake Cornish was seen 'being more romantic' with Toby Aromolaran than Liberty Poole.

The 24 year old water engineer, who quit the show with ex-girlfriend Liberty, 21, on Friday 19 August, was seen professing his love for close friend Toby on the day bed.

Jake was seen scrolling through pictures of the pair on his phone before revealing to Toby how much he valued their bromance.

Turning to Toby, he said: "At the end of the day, I didn't think I would come here and literally find a best mate like you are…

"I didn't think I would come in here and really hit it off with someone exactly the same as me – so unexpected."

Meanwhile fans took to Twitter to share their shock at seeing Jake confess his love for Toby 'with more real emotion' than he shared with Birmingham beauty Liberty.

One said: "I cannot believe I just watched Jake profess his love for his best friend Toby with more real emotion than he ever showed Liberty, I mean we been knew this but wow."

Another added: "I’m watching unseen bits for the first time just to see more of Liberty but tell me why I’m seeing Jake declare this one sided love for Toby instead."

A third wrote: "Jake had more chemistry with toby than with Liberty."

"How's Jake being more romantic with toby than he was with lib," a fourth penned.

Despite the fact the couple left the show united, Liberty admitted that she and Jake couldn’t get through the challenges they faced.

“The hardest challenges are in the villa,” she said.

“It is full of good-looking people and there is so much temptation.

“So I feel that if you can’t make it through the villa as a strong couple you won’t make it on the outside world, in there you face hard challenges and you are with people 24/7,” the star added.

The duo, who were once affectionately known as Jiberty, still went on their final epic date, which saw them sailing the Spanish seas on a gigantic boat.

Sadly it didn't change the destination of their relationship and they came back to the villa ready to pack their bags and leave.

Love Island continues Sunday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub. Episodes are available the following morning on BritBox
