Britain’s Got Talent: Amanda Holden teases Simon Cowell return

While the X Factor UK may not have aired on ITV this year, it hasn’t stopped head judge and music mogul Simon Cowell making waves in the franchise overseas. That’s because today, Simon announced he’d be joining the line-up of judges for the fourth season of the singing contest in Israel.

In a statement obtained by Deadline, Simon expressed his excitement at the new role.

“Over the years The X Factor format discovered amazing talents from all over the world,

“I can’t wait to see what Israel have to offer.”

It’s the first mention of a return to work from Simon following back surgery earlier this year after an electric bike accident.

This will also be the first time Simon has acted as a judge on an X Factor situated outside the UK or USA.

Express.co.uk has contacted Simon Cowell’s representatives for comment.

It was announced earlier this year that the UK version of the show would be “rested” for the first time in 16 years.

In the USA, The X Factor only ran from 2011 to 2013.

And while Simon will be doing what he does best on the judging panel for X Factor Israel, there’s still sadly no sign on when a UK series will return.

In fact, earlier this year, ITV’s Director of Television Kevin Lygo admitted t wasn’t a sure thing it would ever grace UK screens again.

“It’s not definitely returning, it might return. The format will be tweaked,” he said at the Edinburgh TV Festival [via Daily Mail Online].

“I’m sure X Factor will be back at some stage and it’s really when is the right moment.

“Simon controls it – when does he want it to come back and how does he want it to come back? And hopefully, we can be part of that.”
