Spoilers: Phil and Callum destroy Ellie in EastEnders

Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is determined to get his son out of the clutches of dangerous criminal Ellie Nixon (Mica Paris) but she isn’t giving Raymond up without a fight, having demanded a huge sum of money for the exchange in EastEnders.

But Phil has decided that the way forward is to expose the fact that Ellie is an unfit carer so he has got Denise Fox (Diane Parish) on board to be the face of the custody battle while he funds it.

In order to bring Ellie down, Phil knows he has to be smarter – so he calls in another favour from police officer Callum Highway (Tony Clay).

DI Thompson comes up with a plan for Callum to gain Phil’s trust, but Callum is worried it could backfire.

Ben (Max Bowden) tells Callum he is worried he is putting too much on the line and later warns Phil to leave Callum out of his business. Later, Ellie arrives to collect her money from Phil but she receives a phone call about what has happened – Phil makes it clear he will set her up if he doesn’t get his son back.

But how will Ellie respond?

Meanwhile, Denise asks Jack (Scott Maslen) if she can set up a bed for Raymond at his house but he is distracted as he finds a note from Amy’s teacher requesting a meeting that day.

Later Jack seeks fatherly advice from Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths), who is struggling with his grief. His advice is to put the kids first so Jack later tells Denise that she’s got to take care of Raymond but he can’t have Phil around when he needs to take care of Amy – being together won’t work.

It seems many relationships are on the brink of disaster as Phil executes his risky move against Ellie – will it backfire?
