Channel 4 host Steph McGovern was back on Tuesday with the latest instalment of Steph’s Packed Lunch and opened the programme by welcoming her guests which included comedian Luke Kempner, chef John Waite and former Strictly star Denise Van Outen. However, just minutes into the show, Steph was thrilled to announce that one of her guests was going to be a dad.
“Luke is going to be a dad,” the host beamed, as she shared details of what was coming up on the show.
“So, he’s got all the advice on the essentials you need on what you need to pack for the maternity ward.
“Plus, he is going to be experiencing labour pains. He’s going to feel like what mum’s go through when they have contractions.”
Luke chipped in: “I don’t know what you guys are complaining about. It’s going to be fine, I’m not worried.”
Later on in the programme, first-time dad Luke gave some advice on what new parents needed to pack before heading to the maternity ward.
He showed viewers the essential items they needed to pack in their “hospital bag”.
“You might have to stay two or three nights,” he explained.
“I’ve got a cooling fan which I love, it sprays out water as well. It is good if you are getting hot.”
“Some nappies and a baby grow,” he continued. “Because the dad is apparently the first one to put on a baby grow.
“So, that is your hospital bag.”
Luke went on to show Steph some car seat options as he pointed out, parents can’t leave the hospital without one.
Steph made a return to her show on Monday after taking some time off for the summer.

The presenter didn’t get a chance to go on holiday, instead, she helped to present the Paralympics Breakfast Show.
Announcing the break on Twitter, the host penned: “And that’s a wrap! Off on our summer break. #stephspackedlunch will be back in September for more laughs at lunchtime.
“Thank you to my amazing team, on and off-screen, for all their graft over the last 10 months.”
However, despite her break, viewers were delighted to see Steph back on television, and many took to social media to share their thoughts.
One penned: “Start to a new term/season of #StephsPackedLunch Welcome Back @StephLunch and ALL your team.”
Another wrote: “Great to have you back on telly. I like your guests and usual panel is always fun and interesting.”
A third added: “Great to have you back, glad to see you still observing social distance and not pretending the pandemic is over like some other shows.” (sic)
“So lovely to see you all back,” a fourth said.
