Strictly’s Giovanni posts sweet note to Rose Ayling-Ellis after ‘making history’

Strictly Come Dancing's Giovanni Pernice and Rose Ayling-Ellis "made history" during Halloween week in 2021.

The pair, who won the Glitterball Trophy last December, received the earliest perfect score of 40 from the judges ever during the exciting week, leaving the duo utterly thrilled.

Giovanni hasn't quite made it as far this year, with the professional booted out of the competition before Halloween came around, but it hasn't stopped him remembering the incredible moment with his former partner.

The Strictly pro shared a clip of him and Rose from last year as they were getting their scores and each judge surprised them with a whopping 10/10.

The pair were left in tears when they managed to get a total of 40 and as the star shared the clip to his Instagram feed he tagged his friend Rose in the post.

He wrote: "One year ago, we made history," alongside another video of Claudia Winkleman branding him the "king of Halloween" while Rose praised him too.

Rose followed the clip up with: "How is this one year already?! One of [the] best moments ever."

The pair performed a routine to Shivers by Ed Sheeran and as they found out their score Giovanni placed his face in his hands and sank to the floor.

Prior to the record-breaking moment, it was already Giovanni who held the record for the top scoring pro dancer for Halloween since he joined in 2015.

The show's official Twitter account said at the time: "The first 40 of the series for Rose and Gio and the earliest 40 ever in the history of #Strictly! Giovanni is STILL the King of #Halloween."

Unfortunately, it wasn't to go well this year for Giovanni as the star was one of the first out of the competition this year.

But as he as reminded that it will be the first time he hasn't come out on top at Halloween, he responded: "Well technically I'm not competing this year which means nobody is beating the title ha ha ha! Anyway, enjoy the show tonight… I know I will."

Giovanni won the series last year alongside Rose, and the duo have kept up a firm friendship in the year which followed.
