Strictlys Oti Mabuse reunites with parents after three years in emotional video

Strictly Come Dancing professional dancer and The Masked Dancer panelist Oti Mabuse was emotional as she was reunited with her mother in South Africa – after being apart for three years.

Oti, 31, surprised her parents Dudu and Peter by deciding to fly home for Christmas without telling them beforehand.

In Oti's Instagram video clip taken at Heathrow Airport, she said: "I'm on my way home. I haven't been home in four years. I haven't seen my mum in four years, haven't seen my dad in four. She doesn't know I'm coming home."

The video followed Oti masked up on the plane, landing in South Africa and going into a room where her family were – making for an emotional embrace with a little girl followed by her mother, who smiled from ear to ear.

"Decided to surprise my family and not tell them I'm coming home just to see their expressions, mom was speechless (touched me all to see if I was real, dad couldn't stop smiling and my god mother cried her eyes off).

"To say I was emotional is an absolute understatement I have been waiting 3-4 years to hold my moms, dad, sister, nieces and nephews in my arms and just spend time with them NOT through a screen.

"I rarely share family events but this felt really special to me and I know so many others are in my position and were buzzing when RSA (Republic of South Africa) was taken off of the red list."

She went on: "'Covid has really taught me how much family is above all and should never be taken for granted. Please excuse the coming photo dumps that will be flying your way."

Fellow Strictly co-star Giovanni Pernice commented a series of heartfelt emojis and said: "Happy for you babe!!!"

Another Strictly dancer Karen Hauer said: "Beautiful beautiful".

Strictly pro Amy Dowden said: "this got me! Have the best time".

Double Olympic Gold athlete Kelly Holmes commented: "This is so wonderful".

And Glee star and The Greatest Dancer panellist Matthew Morrison wrote: "You are such a Mama's girl! Love you sister!"
