Season 1 ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ storylines

Set in Los Angeles, The Bold and the Beautiful followed the lives of three families and the drama in the fashion world. The Forresters were the main focus with them being a rich family running a successful fashion house. The Spencers were another upper-class clan with patriarch Bill Spencer (Jim Storm) operating a publishing company. Then there’s the Logans, a middle-class brood, who soon find themselves interacting with the Forresters.

Storylines in the first season include Caroline Spencer’s (Joanna Johnson) relationship with Ridge Forrester (Ronn Moss), whom her father disapproves of. Although Ridge is engaged to Caroline, he finds himself attracted to Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang), whom he meets when she caters a party for the Forresters. Ridge and Brooke’s meeting would then set in motion the couple’s three-decade love affair and Brooke’s feud with Ridge’s mother, Stephanie.

Another central storyline during the show’s first season is Stephanie and Eric Forrester’s (John McCook) marriage. Although the couple appear to have the perfect marriage, Eric has a wandering eye. One lady who catches his eye is his former college sweetheart Beth Logan (Nancy Burnett), whom he dumped to marry a pregnant Stephanie.

Aside from her philandering husband, Stephanie also has to deal with the drama in her children’s lives. When Ridge and his brother Throne Forrester (Clayton Norcross) begin feuding over Caroline, Stephanie intervenes.

Changes on ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ throughout the years

As with many soap operas, The Bold and the Beautiful has undergone numerous changes throughout the years. In 2012, Susan Flannery decided to leave the show, and her character Stephanie died of lung cancer. That same year, Ronn Moss also departed the soap opera after 25 years of playing Ridge. The role would later be recast with Thorsten Kaye.

Throughout the decades, The Bold and the Beautiful has continued to grow with the introduction of new characters, many of whom are related to the show’s core families. These days Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) and Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) are leading the new generation of the Forresters and the Logans. Although there have been many changes throughout the years, longtime fans haven’t forgotten about the charm and beauty that first captivated them. Now thanks to YouTube they can relive the glory of The Bold and the Beautiful’s early days.
