The Crown shows distressed Princess Diana in upsetting scene just before death

The Crown: Season 6 preview

The Crown’s sixth, and final, season brings the tales of the UK’s royal family into the modern era, recapping some of the most pivotal Windsor moments including the car accident that shocked the world in 1997.

While the Netflix show has sparked some outrage for daring to approach the sensitive subject at all, new clips reveal the series is taking a tender approach to the devastating crash.

In the new clip, the People’s Princess, played by Elizabeth Debicki, and her partner Dodi Fayed, played by Khalid Abdalla, are seen exiting the lavish Ritz hotel in France and jumping into a nearby car.

The couple desperately try to ward off the eager paparazzi swarming them as Diana dives into the backseat.

She keeps her head down, clutching onto the seat in front of her as blinding flashes continue going off from the cameras covering all angles of the situation.

Dodi clambers into the car as well, checking with his beloved to ensure she is okay, before giving directions to the driver as the paparazzi can still be heard shouting Diana’s name and asking her to smile.

Other sneak peeks of the upcoming season, which releases today on the streaming platform, have shared some other intimate details of the 36-year-old’s final days.

One clip claimed that while she was staying in France, Diana had tried to phone home and speak to her sons, Prince William and Harry but they were unfortunately not available at the time.

Aside from the harrowing run-up to her tragic death, the new season will also reportedly be looking at the devastating fallout for the Windsors in the aftermath, taking an intimate look at how King Charles told his sons the news.

However, according to the Daily Mail some aspects of the sad situation will be slightly altered for the historical fiction series.

Although Diana’s sons are seen on-screen reflecting on their last conversation with their mother these are reportedly not a true reflection of her final words to them.

Similarly, for sensitivity reasons, the fatal car crash is not re-created on-camera.

The final season of the hit show has reportedly been rewritten multiple times during production as numerous bombshells about the royal family began spilling from Prince Harry’s memoir Spare which was released earlier this year.
