As AMC’s The Walking Dead unveils its highly-anticipated eleventh and final season, there could be a huge role awaiting one of the show’s iconic stars. Norman Reedus who plays Daryl Dixon hinted at a major new role away from the zombie series.
Fans have watched Daryl in action fuelled, fast paced scenarios since his first appearance in season one and it looks as though there could be more nail-biting scenes awaiting the actor.
Norman could potentially join the next biggest franchise on screens, the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
While it has yet to be confirmed, Norman had expressed his interest in being cast in the new highly speculated Ghost Rider movie.
Although there are rumours the role for Johnny Blaze has been filled, the actor has been agreeing with fans about him being best suited for the job.
After reports of Norman being cast as the iconic motorcycle stunt rider, the actor caused a stir on social media after liking a bunch of tweets congratulating him on the role.
This wasn’t the first time the actor had gone public about his desire to star in the Marvel masterpiece.
In July, Norman told Comicbook.com: “The Ghost Rider conversation has been coming up for years, and yeah, tell them to put me in it,” he added, “I want to play Ghost Rider.”
The actor continued: “I want a fire skull, I want my face to turn into a fire skull and whip a chain around. That would be great.”
If the rumours are true, Norman wouldn’t be the first The Walking Dead alumni to star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Jon Bernthal, who starred alongside Norman for two seasons as Shane Walsh went on to portray The Punisher in his own Netflix series.
During his conversation with comicbook.com Norman stated the idea of reuniting with Jon would be, “so fun.”
The actor exclaimed: “That would be great. So, I don’t know, call somebody, make that happen. I want to do it.”

Norman had a taste of working in Marvel in 2002 when he played weaponsmith Scud in the on-screen adaptation of the comic, Blade II.
If 2022, will see him become Johnny Blaze, Norman would be replacing Nicolas Cage who starred in the 2007 original and its 2011 sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.
As for The Walking Dead, Norman’s character is in for some major scenes after he found himself with the reapers.
After being kidnapped with his dog Daryl had an unexpected reunion with a familiar face.
Season 11, revealed Leah was also among the reapers after the sudden and mysterious disappearance in season 10.
The two first met during the years he spent in the woods looking for Rick, then they both had a whirlwind romance before she vanished.
However, upon their reunion, Daryl has a huge decision to make, after Leah tried to persuade him to switch sides and willingly join the reapers.
With many fans hopeful Norman will land the Marvel role, they will likely first find out which side Daryl will choose when The Walking Dead returns in 2022.
The Walking Dead season 11, part 2 will premiere on AMC on February 20, 2022 in the USA. The UK release date is set for February 21, 2022 on Disney.
