These are the overseas homes Brits have been dreaming of this year

12/21/2021

Earlier this month, we discovered that the nation’s most-viewed UK homes for 2021 include a £15million Essex mansion and a Cornwall home with dreamy views.

But what about our lust for properties further afield?

Today, Rightmove reveals the overseas homes Brits have been gazing upon over the last 12 months, whether out of a genuine pondering of a move or to just dream of packing up our things and heading abroad.

Rightmove’s director of overseas, Alex Solomon, said: ‘This year, Britain’s fascination with property overseas has continued, with many buyers making the idea of a move abroad a reality.

‘From a bulletproof townhouse in New York, to a luxury escape in Cannes, it’s easy to see why people have been dreaming about stunning properties overseas that they could live in if they could spare no expense.

‘This year’s most viewed homes overseas are some of the most luxurious properties on the market, in some of the world’s most stunning locations.’

Let’s dive in.

Six-bedroom townhouse in New York, US, $50million

This place took second spot for last year, and we can see why it’s still attracting views.

The six-bedroom townhouse has an exterior of curved, bulletproof glass, which gives you New York views from each of the seven levels.

There’s a private roof terrace, complete with a hot tub, of course.

Eight-bedroom villa in Cannes, France, €70million

A super luxurious property with panoramic sea views, in the ultra exclusive area of La Californie.

This is a place for someone absolutely loaded – so we think it’s more of a property porn listing than one many of us are genuinely thinking about buying.

There’s over 1,600 sqm of living space, a large covered courtyard with a koi pond and its own waterfall, and a massive swimming pool with its own bar and hot tub.
