Who is Brendan Cole and what’s his net worth? – The Sun10/08/2021
DANCING On Ice has confirmed Brendan Cole as the eighth celebrity to join the 2022 line-up.
Cole was sacked from Strictly after a long run on the flagship BBC show. Here's the full lowdown on his career and personal life…
Who is Brendan Cole?
Brendan Cole is a 45-year-old ballroom dancer originally from Christchurch, New Zealand.
Brendan starting dancing at the age of six and went on to become a professional dancer after leaving school at the age of seventeen.
Like fellow professional Anton du Beke, Brendan had appeared in the Strictly Come Dancing series since it launched in 2004.
His previous celebrity dance partners include Kirsty Gallacher, Jo Wood, Kelly Brook, Anastacia and Lulu.
Strictly isn't the dancer's only taste of television, as he previously appeared on Celebrity Love Island where he became runner-up.
He has also appeared on Britain's Next Top Model and BBC's Just The Two Of Us.
What is Brendan's musical background?
Though Brendan is no stranger to performing, little is known of his singing abilities.
As a professional dancer we know he can cut a rug as it was his dancing prowess that landed him his spot on Strictly.
But we are yet to see any signs of his ability to sing.
Though considering his dancing skills it's likely to reason that his musicality will be of assistance to him as he belts out those tunes.
How does Brendan know Jeremy Edwards?
Brendan and Jeremy Edwards have been long-standing friends having mixed in the same circles over the years.
And on 15 July, 2019, The Sun exclusively revealed that Brendan had formed a boyband with the Hollyoaks hunk in the upcoming The X Factor: Celebrity.
A source said: “Brendan has a huge fanbase from Strictly, and Jeremy has been on some of the biggest soaps in the country so they’re hopeful they will go far.
“Initially it started out as a bit of a novelty idea but they’re really enjoying it and have started to feel pretty optimistic about making a mark on the show.
“They’ve already filmed their first scenes, so there’s no going back — but Strictly probably won’t be too impressed when they find out he has jumped on board with their biggest rival after all those years.”
Why did Brendan leave Strictly? Is he banned?
During an interview with Lorraine Kelly on her daytime TV show in January 2018, Brendan announced he had been axed from the show.
Over the years Brendan also made headlines for his clashes with head judge Len Goodman, as well as bullying claims when he branded GMTV host Fiona Phillips "the worst partner he had ever had".
In February 2018, The Sun broke the news Brendan had been given the boot for dancing with Camilla Parker Bowles at Buckingham Palace.
On August 23, 2018 it was revealed that Bendan is now "banned" from even going to watch the show.
The latest reveal, while speaking to Lorraine, the professional dancer revealed: "It’s quite hard to talk about, the BBC haven’t renewed my contract. They’ve made an editorial decision not to have me back on the show."
Although he didn't mention much else, there is a rumor to suggest the "real" reason he was axed from the show was down to Shirley Ballas being upset with him for rejecting her.
Who is Brendan Cole's wife Zoe Hobbs?
Zoe Hobbs, 37, is a model and lifestyle blogger.
The couple have been married since 2010 and have a five-year old daughter, Aurelia.
Zoe gave birth to the couple's second child, son Dante, in March 2018.
It was revealed by The Sun how Brendan had partied at a showbiz bash with female golfer Carly Booth less than 24 hours after Zoe had given birth.
A source said: “Brendan seemed to be having a great time and was locked in conversation with Carly.
“The setting meant that he was very close to the Strictly Come Dancing table where Debbie McGee and the rest of the cast were, so he went over to clear the air with the show’s producer Louise Rainbow.”
The Sun also revealed how Brendan had been banned by his wife from going out.
In May, 2018 Brendan was spotted getting cosy with one of his All Night Long tour singers Jenna-Lee James as he confided in her about the pressure his job puts on his family life and marriage.
What has Brendan done since Strictly?
Since quitting Strictly, Brendan hasn't slowed down.
The dancer is currently touring his Brendan Cole – Show Man Tour across the UK until March 2020.
On September 7 – the same day of Strictly 2019's launch night – Brendan took to his Instagram to share the news, writing:
"It’s time…The #strictly Launch Show aired this evening and with the buzz and excitement of the new series, I launch my 2020 tour dates!
"My final big band tour will be running between February 19th and March 15th 2020.
"Tickets are now on sale so don’t miss your chance to see my fifth and last big band production for the last time."
Speaking on the latest Lorraine show (October 6), Cole has been confirmed that he will be appearing on the next series of Dancing On Ice.
