Tuesday’s new episode of Tipping Point saw Ben Shephard welcome four budding quizzers onto the ITV show in the hopes of pocketing some serious cash. With the elusive £10,000 jackpot up for grabs, contestants Charlie, Peter, Maia and Amrik were the four who hoped they had the knowledge to come out on top – however, this sadly wasn’t the case for Charlie who ended up leaving the show after failing to add any winnings to her prize fund.

And in her attempts to try and bag a counter to pop into the Tipping Point machine, Charlie slipped up when it came to her knowledge of the Royal Family.

The moment came as Charlie desperately tried to make up some ground on her fellow competitors after putting two counters into the machine with no returns.

Good Morning Britain star Ben asked: “In 2020, which member of the Royal Family married Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in Windsor?”

Buzzing in ahead of her fellow players, Charlie quickly answered Ben’s brainteaser: “Eugenie? Princess Eugenie?”

However, quickly spotting her mistake, Ben let out a frustrated exhale before correcting Charlie: “Beatrice!”

Charlie threw her head in her hands as Ben continued to agonise: “Oh, Charlie!”

He continued: “I’m sorry! (It’s) the wrong sister, I’m afraid!

“We have to steal that last counter of yours, that’s gone into the penalty pot,” Ben told her.

The Tipping Point host did have some words of encouragement, however, as he continued: “You have now used all three of your counters so for the time being you’re out.

“There are still two counters to play for in the penalty pot. Everyone’s gonna have a chance to play for those in the final round.”

However, Charlie failed to capitalise on the penalty pot, with Maia the player who swooped in to grab the remaining counters.

As the first round came to a close, Charlie said her goodbyes with nothing in her prize fund, while Maia sailed through with £2,050.

Peter secured a spot in round two with £450 while Amrik squeezed through with £250.

Maia’s fine form continued into round two as well, seeing off Amrik with £2,200 – Peter joined her in the final head to head with £1,200.

And Maia was crowned the winner of the episode and headed into the final battle with the machine with £2,500 in her prize fund.

However, her final batch of categories and questions didn’t exactly fall her way.

After taking on the machine for the final time, Maia finished with £3,400 in her prize pot.

While the jackpot counter was situated on the bottom shelf, Maia decided to take the money – turning down Ben’s offer of three final counters.

Luckily for Maia, the jackpot counter remained unmoved, proving she’d made the right call and went home with £3,400.

Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
