Biden predicts ‘big win’ against Trump at final rally with Lady Gaga

Joe Biden gave the last speech of his presidential campaign just like Hillary Clinton did four years ago: with a rally headlined by pop star Lady Gaga and strong hopes of victory against Donald Trump.

“Folks, I have a feeling we’re coming together for a big win tomorrow,” the Democratic nominee told a crowd at an Election Eve drive-in rally in Pittsburgh.

“Tomorrow, we can put an end to a presidency that has left hard-working Americans out in the cold. Tomorrow we can put an end to a presidency that has fanned the flames of hatred. Tomorrow we can put at end to a presidency that has failed to protect this nation,” he went on.

The 77-year-old former veep wrapped up his 18-month campaign after a day spent barnstorming in the must-win Keystone State which could determine the fate of the election with its 20 electoral votes.

The Scranton born candidate leads Trump there by just 2.5 percentage points, according to the RealClearPolitics average of polls, an advantage that has shrunk from 8.5 percentage points in late July.

Many Americans are anxiously anticipating a hard-fought election with Biden and Trump locked in close races in many battleground states, even though the Democratic nominee has consistently lead nationwide.

An outcome may also take several extra days to determine given an unprecedented number of mail-in ballots amid the pandemic.

On Monday evening, Biden railed against Trump’s response to the surging coronavirus pandemic, which has so far killed 231,000 Americans and infected 9.33 million others, criticized his attempts to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, and accused him of acting like Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s “puppy.”

“It’s time for Donald Trump to pack his bags and go home. The vast majority of Americans are done with the chaos, the corruption, the failure, the irresponsibility, the indifference to American lives, the indifferences to America’s dignity,” he told the crowd.

Biden’s pitch to voters was a promise to restore dignity in the United States and he told the crowd of supporters that it was time for the country to “take back our Democracy.”

“In 2008 and 2012, you placed your trust in me and Barack. In 2020, I’m asking and seeking your trust again. I take nothing for granted,” he said.

It was the culmination of an at times brutal presidential bid.

The septuagenarian candidate was plagued by gaffes and missteps on the campaign trail and suffered bruising fourth- and fifth-place finishes early in Iowa and New Hampshire as he competed with a much more diverse and progressive field of candidates.

Concerned by the viability of his former veep’s campaign, Barack Obama also withheld his coveted endorsement until April when every other candidate had dropped out and backed Biden in a bid to stop an ascendant Bernie Sanders.

In Pittsburgh, the Democratic nominee received a full-throated endorsement from Grammy-winner Lady Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, who also performed at Hillary Clinton’s final rally in Raleigh, N.C., before her bruising defeat to Trump.

Wearing a white sweater with the word “Joe” written in a love heart, the Grammy Award-winning singer performed a number of hits behind a white baby grand piano and told supporters to “vote like this country depends on it.”

“We all know this thing may come down to Pennsylvania. We need you. We need your family, we need your friends, we need your heart. Vote like your life depends on it, vote like your children’s lives depend on it. Because they do,” she said.

Calling Biden her “Pennsylvania guy,” the singer described the former Delaware senator as a personal friend after they appeared together in a sexual assault PSA in 2017.

Her addition to the rally angered the Trump campaign, who called Gaga an “anti-fracking activist” and accused her of wanting to dismantle the fossil fuel industry in the Keystone State.

In a response on Twitter, the starlet asked, “what is fracking?” and joked that she was living “rent-free” in the head of Trump 2020 communications director, Tim Murtaugh.
