Coronavirus claims two elderly victims in Florida
03/07/2020Coronavirus has claimed its first East Coast victims — two seniors in Florida, health officials said.
Both people, in their 70s, had traveled overseas and had tested positive for the disease, the Florida Department of Health said in a statement.
One was a man with underlying health issues in Santa Rosa County in the state’s Panhandle. The second was in Lee County, near Fort Myers on the Gulf Coast.
Their deaths bring the US toll from the virus to 16, including 13 in Washington State and one in California.
At least 338 people in the US have been confirmed to have coronavirus, and eight have recovered, according to a tracker maintained by Johns Hopkins University.
