Bus passenger hits 19-month-old baby on the back of the head in broad daylight in ‘truly shocking incident’ as police release CCTV of man they wish to speak to

A crying toddler was hit around the back of the head while on board a bus.
The 19-month-old girl was crying in a pushchair when a passer-by shouted at her and struck her on board the 29 bus from Luton town centre to nearby St Margaret’s Avenue.
The toddler’s mother was set next to her throughout the assault.
Bedfordshire Police released pictures of this man after a 19-month-old girl was hit around the back of the head on board a bus in Luton town centre.
PC Carolyn Hoare, from Bedfordshire Police, said: “This is a truly shocking incident where a baby was assaulted on a bus in broad daylight.
‘We will not tolerate this kind of behaviour in our county.’
‘We are asking the man pictured in the CCTV images, or anyone who recognises him, to come forward as we believe he could help us with our enquiries.
‘If anyone witnessed the incident, please get in touch.’
The assault took place on February 4 at around 2.30pm.
An Arriva spokesman said: ‘We are aware of an incident that took place on one of our buses and are assisting the relevant authorities with their ongoing investigations.’
